Absorbency

polyvinyl acetal sponge is extremely hydrophilic (absorbent) because of OH-radicals in the molecular structure and the capillary action caused by it’s uniform pore structure. The result is outstanding absorption power.  polyvinyl acetal sponge products can rapidly soak up fluids, thereby drying surfaces much faster than other materials.  This material is completely open cell and each of it’s pores is not independent, but interconnected, unlike urethane or rubber products made by gas pore forming methods.

Liquid Retention

polyvinyl acetal’s uniform pore structure, capillary action and hydrophilic properties allows for fluid retention many times it’s own weight, while eliminating dripping.  This feature makes polyvinyl acetal excellent for coating all types of aqueous solutions in various manufacturing applications.

Polyvinyl Acetal Foam
Open cell porous structure

Material Composition

Our polyvinyl acetal foam material has a three dimensional, interconnected open cell porous structure obtained from water-soluble polyvinyl catalyzed with an acid and an aldehyde.  The resulting product yields the above five desirable features, which allows polyvinyl acetal foam to outperform all other porous products such as polyurethane foam, polyethylene foam, viscose sponge, PVC foam and rubber latex products.
